Last week the Resident team toured Fisher & Paykel’s new Experience Centre in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. The Centre has been designed to reflect Fisher & Paykel’s uniquely ‘Designed in Aotearoa New Zealand’ identity and philosophy. 

Paul Valentine of Small Office runs a Los Angeles based design resource and consultancy representing contemporary design. In addition to working with architects, interior designers and the commercial trade, Small Office also organises exhibitions and produces custom design projects, including INTRO/LA of which Resident has been a regular participant at.  

We sat down with Paul to reflect on his experiences and learn more about his practice.

Park House,16 Finsbury Circus (London) was developed in 2008 as a new building behind a Grade II Listed façade with a dramatic atrium. The dual entrance halls provide an impressive arrival experience, having been extensively refurbished in 2018, along with the other communal areas in the building.

Waikato based interior design studio Gezellig Interiors is pronounced heh-SELL-ick, a dutch word describing something as inviting, pleasant, comfortable and lived in. Their latest project situated on Peake Road in Aotearoa, New Zealand features polished concrete floors complemented by gentle interior tones and textiles.
