Resident Project - Wai Ariki Spa

On the shores of Lake Rotorua, New Zealand, Wai Ariki Spa is a luxury cultural wellness destination.

Owned and curated by the local iwi (tribe), Wai Ariki offers a high end spa and architectural experience that is a journey to restoration - with thermal pools, a geothermal mud lounge, and massages and facials.

The building was designeed by RCG, and focusses on integrating Māori culture with modern design, featuring a non-linear, spiral layout that reflects Ngāti Whakaues healing practices and traditional narratives.

Residents Parison Pendant is displayed in a large cluster the main entrance hall.

Released in 2013 and designed by Cheshire Architects, Parison is a mouth blown feature pendant, using a mixture of coloured and clear glass. The underside of the pendant contains slanted facets, creating a contradiction between fluid and jagged surfaces.
