Resident Project - Victorian Schoolhouse

Jacu Strauss is a friend of the Resident brand, who over the years has built a reputation for creating interiors that feel collected rather than composed.

As Creative Director of Lore Group, his prolific hospitality projects balance heritage with contemporary design, layering sculptural furniture, art and found objects to create spaces with depth and personality.

The same thoughtful approach defines his latest personal project - a converted Victorian schoolhouse in Worcestershire. Strauss bought the girls’ wing of the school just days after it went on the market in 2023. With two bedrooms and a central position in the village of Wribbenhall, it presented the potential for a lock-up-and-go weekend retreat from London.

As an avid creator and collector of art, sculpture and design since a young age, the house provides the perfect place his self described "style of contrasting things".

In the dining room, Resident's Sacha chairs embody this philosophy with ease. Their graphic silhouette in cobalt blue and refined detailing provide a contemporary counterpoint, bringing warmth, comfort and understated elegance to the exquisit light filled space.

Jacu has shaped some of the world's most celebrated hospitality and workplace projects, from London's Sea Containers Hotel, Jamie Oliver's Barbecoa, and One Hundred Shoreditch, to the Pulitzer Amsterdam, Riggs Washington DC, and Hotel Park Ave NYC, and we are proud to have our product featured in such a tasteful and personal project.
