Waiheke House by Daniel Marshall Architects

Placed beside the sea at the eastern end of Waiheke Island, New Zealand, stands Waiheke House by Daniel Marshall Architects. We caught up with the owner of the house Ali to discuss the challenges of executing the project whilst being based on the other side of the world and her feelings now that the house is complete.

"The project took twice as long as what we were hoping when the house caught fire as it was due to be completed. We were based in London, UK at the time so this proved to be challenging.

Most of the build was done pre-zoom, so via lots of phone calls and emails. We did have a few trips to New Zealand to check on the progress.

We were lucky with our choice of architect, Daniel Marshall and Lindsey Construction have all been amazing. We purchased the furniture from the Simon James Showroom where I instantly knew it was suitable for our house. I like the clean simple and elegant style and also really liked the idea of furnishing the house with New Zealand made furniture.

I am looking forward to spending some great summers at The Waikopou Bay house, the sunrises are exquisite it is wonderful to wake up to it rising over the bay. I also love the close proximity to the water and hearing the lapping of the waves on the shore, it was such a treat for the kids to see dolphins in the bay last year.

With the house entwined in the bush, the birdsong is fantastic. So far we have made some wonderful memories." - Ali, Home Owner
