The Hawk chair by Simon James features throughout the new domestic Air New Zealand Koru Lounge in Christchurch New Zealand.
Air New Zealand commissioned the new lounge with architecture firm Jasmax, who have developed an evolution of the long running “the bach” (holiday cabin) theme used by the airline in its Koru Lounges.
This is the first completely new Koru Lounge to be designed & built in more than a decade and coincides with the airline’s subtle rebranding.
Inspiration was drawn from the 180deg view the lounge affords across the runway to the Southern Alps mountain range. The ceiling references the snow-capped peaks while the locally sourced timber wall panelling comes directly from the Southland beech forests that cover its lower slopes.
